On top of exploring - Mäkiautio gorge

Tahko Travel Destination is all about nature! Aim higher and take the breathtaking hike up to Tahko mountain and to one of Tahko’s secret gems Mäkiautio gorge only 300m north from Panorama Bar & Cáfe. Start off from Tahko center and walk through the floating bridge on the lake surface. You have a few options to reach the gorge. You can take the steps all the way up, follow the hiking trail to your left up to the gorge or ride the Panorama lift. If you choose the Tahko stairs (the longest in Finland with 1054 steps, oh gush), once you are up, head to your right pass Panorama bar into the forest until you see the Mäkiautio gorge sign (same route if you take the lift). Keep in mind that none of the stairways don't have maintenance during the winter. In the gorge you will find a lean-to and a viewing point. There is fire wood available and we recommend you to take snacks and drinks with you. Just remember to take your waste back with you. Here you won’t be alone either as the carved wooden owls will keep you company.
