Private small group hiking tour to Porkkala Peninsula (4h)

Varaktighet 4 timmar

Porkkala Peninsula, extending far into the Gulf of Finland, is located approximately 45 minutes west of downtown Helsinki in the western Uusimaa region. This picturesque destination offers visitors a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the nature of the southern Finnish coastline and the refreshing archipelago of the Baltic Sea with its waves, islands, and bays. In addition to its beautiful scenery, the area offers intriguing stories from the past, serving as both a sheltered sailing area and part of the Porkkala lease area during the Second World War and the Cold War era.

Upon reaching the tip of the peninsula, visitors embark on a roughly 1.5-kilometer walking tour through millions of years old rocks, soft paths covered with pine needles, boardwalks, and boggy areas filled with heather. In total, the walking route back and forth covers a distance of 3 kilometers.

At the destination, visitors are greeted with a stunning seascape, and from the cliffs of Pampskatan, one can see the 200-year-old Rönnskär lighthouse on the horizon. Along the way, it's quite possible to encounter elks and deer, and one should not forget about the area's birds—especially in spring and autumn, when the destination becomes a paradise for migratory bird watchers.

A visit to the Porkkala Peninsula promises a treasure trove of experiences for both nature lovers and culture enthusiasts alike.
