Explore an olden home apartment and familiarize yourself with building preservation! Located close to central Pori Preservation Centre Toivo manages five buildings built before 1907. In the Korsman house, repaired for public and educational purposes, you can take an athmospheric journey to the year 1951, in Korsman family apartment, or enjoy the changing exhibition in the northern end of the building.
Toivo was named after fruit juice factory that operated between the wars in one room of the main building. Nowadays Toivo houses a permanent restoration exhibition, that extends to the red Piharivi building. It shows you different stages of restoration and history of the house, teaching about techniques, materials and interior design from 1800 to 1950. You can also purchase some materials needed for renovating your own home.
Toivo is open all year, except during Christmas time. During the winter period, Korsman house is open mainly for school and nursery school groups, except for during events or upon request.
