Rautjärvi Rectory - Military-historical Site

Gratuit

The Rautjärvi rectory is a military-historical site and a unique and important place in Finnish military history.

This historic rectory in the municipality of Rautjärvi in South Karelia served as the headquarters of Infantry Regiment 27 for about a month in 1941, from where troops were directed and strategies for the battles were planned. The parsonage was also an important place for reconnaissance and communication, as it was equipped with radio and other communication devices.

During the Continuation War, Infantry Regiment 27 was one of the most important units in the Finnish army.

The Rautjärvi rectory has been preserved almost in its original state and can be visited. Old military tents and other military artefacts can be seen in the vicarage courtyard. Photos and documents about the activities of the 27th Infantry Regiment are on display in the rectory.

This military history site offers a unique opportunity to learn about Finnish military history and in particular the activities of the 27th Infantry Regiment. In the area surrounding the chapel, you can step back in time to when the soldiers prepared for battle and planned strategies in this place.
