Snowshoe Adventure in Iivaara Nature Reserve

Arctic experience far away from everything - private tour.

Iivaara fell is a distant, quiet, magical place far away from everything. The name Iivaara means dark (Ii) + fell (vaara). It is the highest fjell in southern Kuusamo and from the summit you can see all the way to the horizon. Sit under silent snowy spruce trees and taste some snow, see the fells of Russia in the east and listen to the arctic silence. I'll tell you about the nature around us and our life here in the north. And of course, we have a break by the campfire with a trail meal.

Duration is 4 hours + transfers (Kuusamo 40min and Ruka 1 hour) and the length of the hike is 6-10 km depending on the route your guide chooses for you. The route is partly challenging with steep and rather long uphill, but we take it slow and have breaks when needed. The adventure begins with a short introduction to snowshoeing, so no previous experience with snowshoeing is needed. Normal physical condition and an adventurous mind are what you need.
