Gallen-Kallela Museum

The Gallen-Kallela Museum is located at Laajalahti, Espoo. Museum building Tarvaspää was built by artist Akseli Gallen-Kallela in 1911-1913 and opened to the public in 1961.


In the museum premises you can also enjoy scenery of Laajalahti shore, museum garden. Museum borrows bird watching kits and art kits to use in the garden. Enjoy also refreshments at Tarvaspää Café Zoceria!

The Gallen-Kallela Museum Foundation functions as an information center on the work of Akseli Gallen-Kallela, actively providing information on the artist and his oeuvre. The museum stages temporary exhibitions a few times a year

featuring both historical and contemporary art, with parallels and juxtapositions of the old and the new opening new perspectives on artist’s period and his art. It is to be remembered that in his day Akseli Gallen-Kal­lela was above all a bold and trailblazing contemporary artist who broke down old ideas and concepts.


Gallen-Kallela Museum is an art museum as well as cultural history museum and we present changing exhibitions of our collections and other artists. See the current exhibition and events on museum website (temporarily in Finnish only).


Open guided tours in English on Saturdays at 3 pm.

- 12 € Adults

- 7 € Seniors

- 5 € Students, unemployed

Free entrance: Children under 18, with Museum Card, Kaikukortti.
