The Monumental Finnish Flag, flying on a 100m high pole near the Oolanninpuisto Park, celebrates the centenary of Finland's independence. You can admire the great Finnish Flag from anywhere around Hamina. You should also visit the foot of the Monumental Finnish Flag to sit on a bench to admire the world's largest Finnish flag and the surrounding seascape.

The flag weighs about 55kg and is 16.5mx 27m in size. On windy days, the flag is lowered by members of the Hamina volunteer fire department and raised again when the weather allows.
