Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Dinner at Pohjolan Kievari in Kuusamo

This Christmas we are happy to set up our traditional countryside Christmas buffet consisting of homemade traditional Christmas specialities, including a visit by Santa Claus on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Pohjolan Kievari is the old village school of Vuotunki Village. The story of this old building begins already in 1907. Pohjolan Kievari has seen many different phases: it has served as the village school in the 1930s and as an air surveillance base during the second world war. After surviving the turmoil of the war, the old school once again opened its doors to pupils returning to their home village.

After being unused for many years, the old house was brought back to life in the spring of 2018.

Starters: Fish pate from local pike and rainbow trout * Marinated raw pickled salmon, horseradish cream * Herring * Beetroot pate * Green salad, marinated red onions, homemade salad dressing * Salad seasoned with Lappish cheese, cloudberry dressing * Forest mushroom salad with apples * Lightly pickled cucumbers

Main Course: Traditional Christmas ham with gravy * Rhubarb and glög jam * Traditional root vegetable casseroles * Potatoes

Dessert: Lingonberry cake * Ginger breads * Chocolates * Coffee/tea
