Experience
Imagine a view of a river with crystal clear water flowing in a deep gorge, surrounded by ancient taiga forest. Feel the soft moss under your bare feet and breathe in the fresh air of the pine trees. Now that is nature!
Through the old and diverse forest landscape, we reach the edge of the narrow and stony Oulanka River Canyon. A magnificent view can be enjoyed from the steep rock cliffs of the Oulanka canyon. For a while, we also follow Finland's most famous hiking trail, Karhunkierros (Big Bear's Trail). On the riverbank, near the hanging bridge, we prepare trail lunch by the fire.
Duration 4 hours of walking + transfer from Ruka 1+1 hours. Walking distance is 6 km. Our pace allows us to rest, enjoy snacks, and take pictures along the way.
Also ask about our longer tour in the same area. There you can see the Taivalköngäs rapids, too. Although it takes 7 km more walking, the beautiful rapids with hanging bridges are worth the effort.
The tour is private and requires a minimum of 2 people. Please inquire about our solo traveler rates if you will be traveling alone. If you need other departure times, let us know!More amazing Land of National Parks destinations: southern part of Oulanka National Park, Iivaara Nature Reserve Area, Hossa National Park.
