Copper bells rest stop (Vaskikello)

From 1 €

Enjoy a hot nice cup of coffee or a delicious meal and try to ring the bells at Vaskikello (Copper bell). Vaskikello has a couple of thousand bell stories, just as many different bells, from church bells – 8-ton, diameter 225cm – to a small lily of the valley's bell. There are also rare clock works and bells made i.a. from Meissen porcelain. You can find tower clock mechanisms since the 18th century.

Nowadays Vaskikello is also a restaurant and gas & electricity charging station. The place was founded by trader Paavo Rönkö in 1973 and provide and unique rest stop area for bypassing visitors.

Vaskikello is not a real bell museum. However, it has become widely known for its bells. First there was the name Vaskikello, one copper bell was bought to support the name. The beginning of the large, apparently the largest collection in the world, was modest and unplanned.

Bells have been bought little by little. Some valuable and old bells have been sold to us with the idea that they would receive honorable treatment, that they could be seen and played by people.
