Gulf of Finland National Park

Free

In spring huge flocks of arctic geese and waterfowl pass through these waters on their way northeast, creating an amazing natural spectacle. In the summer the area's old fishing villages come to life, and visitors can hear tall tales of trading, smuggling and wartime exploits from days gone by.

Particularly suitable for boaters, and hikers in good condition, because the terrain is mostly difficult. No services for visitors with mobility difficulties.

The Eastern Gulf of Finland National Park has an outer archipelago that is ruggedly beautiful. In the spring, hundreds of thousands of migratory birds fill the sky during their journey towards the Arctic region. Gulf of Finland National Park is located outside of the inner archipelago. The landscape is dominated by groups of islands, which also include quite large forested islands. Behind the open sea other large forested islands can be seen, but they are outside the Finnish borders.

There are wells on the islands of Ulko-Tammio and Mustaviiri. Water taken from the wells is recommended to be boiled before using it for drinking or cooking. It makes sense to bring drinking water with you. There are no special services for the disabled. For the most part, the terrain is difficult.

In nature conservation areas, everyman's rights do not apply in the normal way. Please always check the rules of the destination before making your trip.

National parks are nature reserves, whose key task is to safeguard biodiversity and enable people to enjoy and relax in nature on the terms of nature conservation. All national parks in Finland are managed by Metsähallitus.
