Hostel Bjorkenheim

Hostel in the middle of Seinäjoki's scenic, historical cultural environment, close to events and services.

All our rooms have a wardrobe/storage cabinet, a desk, a chair and a night light. For each guest, the room has a pre-made bed, a bath and hand towel.

We have single, double, triple and four person rooms. If necessary, some of the rooms can also be converted into a room for 6 people.

Our hostel is ideally suited for private bookings for groups of various sizes, such as corporate strategy days or association retreats. It is also possible to order breakfast with group bookings. For prices and inquiries, please contact info@hostelbjorkenheim.fi.

The kitchen has the necessary dishes and cutlery as well as kitchen utensils for food preparation and eating. The hostel kitchen also has an oven, stove, refrigerators, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, toaster and dishwasher.

The house offers organic coffee and tea, which you can brew yourself when you feel like it.

Common washrooms (separate for men and women) with changing rooms. In connection with the laundry facilities, there is also a clothes care room with a washing machine, tumble dryer and drying cabinet. One of the toilets also has a private shower.

Free WI-FI is available in all rooms and public areas of the hostel.

THE HISTORY OF OUR BUILDING

In 1913, it was decided to build a district psychiatric hospital for the Finnish-speaking municipalities of Southern Ostrobothnia. in 1915 it was decided to place it here in Seinäjoki in the Törnävä area.

The oldest part was built in the 1920s as a district mental hospital, where Hostel Bjorkenheim is located. In 1985, there were 681 places in Törnävä, which were divided into 20 departments. There were eight wards of long-term psychiatry, seven of which were closed wards. Schizophrenic patients were usually treated in closed wards. Long-term ward 9, was located in this main building, where Hostel Bjorkenheim operates.
